A route stabilizer when Boss restrictions are the run’s limiting factor.

Chicot removes every Boss Blind effect, which makes it a route-stability card rather than a direct score engine. Take it when a coming Boss would invalidate your main hand, economy, or deck manipulation, then use the breathing room to keep improving the actual scoring plan. It is strongest when the run is already powerful but vulnerable to one specific restriction.

Chicot has no directional condition, so it is usually the flexible slot in a board with copies or retriggers. Keep it where it does not interfere with a Blueprint target or Brainstorm’s leftmost target. Before a difficult Boss, the concrete example is simply preserving Chicot and rearranging the scoring engine around it rather than selling the safety card for a minor shop upgrade.

Chicot pairs indirectly with nearly every build because it protects the condition that build requires. Perkeo and Yorick appreciate a smooth route with fewer forced detours, while Triboulet benefits when a Boss cannot interfere with face-card plans. Its best partner is often the Joker that would otherwise lose all value to the next Boss Blind.

Pass when you are dying to normal blind score requirements rather than Boss restrictions. Disabling a Boss does not add Chips, Mult, cards, or money, so it cannot rescue a board with no way to scale. It can also be excessive if your deck already has several flexible hand types and no dangerous restriction on the visible route.

A common mistake is expecting Chicot to solve every hard round. It disables the Boss Blind effect, not the score target. Do not sell all flexible support just because a particular Boss is neutralized; future Bosses and normal Antes still demand a functioning deck. Treat it as insurance with an exceptional ceiling, not a substitute for damage.
