Photograph gives X2 Mult to the first played face card, so put a face card first and make that position dependable. It is a compact payoff that becomes much stronger when the deck can produce face cards consistently. Treat the lead card as part of the scoring engine: preserve it through discards and avoid playing a non-face card ahead of it by accident.

Photograph’s key layout is the played-card row. Lead with a face card, then add the cards that complete the hand after it. With Hanging Chad, that first face card is retriggered, so a King with a useful seal is an ideal opener. Do not put the lead card second merely to make the poker hand look ordered; the trigger will not move.

Hanging Chad is the headline partner because it retriggers that first card twice, allowing Photograph to pay repeatedly. Pareidolia removes the need to draw a natural face card, while Brainstorm can copy a finished face-card payoff package. Baron works on held Kings rather than played cards, so it can share rank support but should not be confused with Photograph’s scoring window.

Pass when the deck cannot consistently place a face card first, when the hand’s base score is too low for an X multiplier, or when the build is centered on non-played-card effects. It is not a generic X2 for every hand. A direct Mult card can be safer while the deck is still unedited.

The usual mistake is playing a non-face card first and assuming a later King or Queen will receive the bonus. Only the first played face card qualifies. Do not mix up held-in-hand effects with scored-card effects, and do not forget that changing order for one round can remove the entire payoff.

Treat the current in-game tooltip as the source of truth: patches, platform versions, and mods can change values, availability, or interactions. This rating is editorial rather than permanent; it weighs copy value, scaling ceiling, route stability, and required setup. When a version changes, the tooltip is checked before strategy notes and tiers are revised.
